As we headed further downstream from where we were taking water samples, the pyrite in the water was becoming more apparent. You can see the "yellow" in the creekbed. If you pay attention to the rocks on the side of the creek, you can really see the difference in color.

Great shot, what is the importance of of the the orange rocks? "yellow"
ReplyDeleteThe residue left from mining (Pyrite or fools gold) causes the change in the water, making it more acidic and giving the rocks the orange or yellow color. Basically it shows the pollution that is left behind after some mining processes.
